From Shintaido of America President, Connie Borden:
Dear Shintaido practitioners,John Seaman, a long-time Shintaido instructor passed away yesterday on April 6th. John had been ill for quite some time and rapidly declined beginning in mid-March. His wife, Lee was at his bedside and she said “he seemed calm and relaxed.”As Jim Sterling, General Instructor, reports: John and Lee started their practice during the early days of Shintaido in Japan. They moved back to the states in the 1970’s where they have taught groups in Oregon and Washington for many years. You can share memories and thoughts with Lee Seaman. If you have memories to share, I can also collect them (email to bordensheets@aol.com) for a SOA newsletter. Please share this message with anyone I might have missed as Lee wanted the Shintaido community to hear the news.Connie
John’s San Francisco Bay Area friends will gather on Saturday, August 4 at the Mount Tamalpais State Park, Mountain Amphitheater (directions here: https://bit.ly/2h5G7s6) to remember John in movement and stories. Lee Seaman plans to join us for this celebration of John.
2pm to 3:15pm (please arrive by 1:45pm to allow time to park and walk a short way to the theater)
We hope to see you there.
Mike and I will be there. Thanks for organizing Tomi! Lee – looking forward to seeing you.
